About us

We have no customers yet, so we are not going to show you any.

No logos, no testimonials, no “trusted by forty schools”. We could put some up this afternoon and you would have no way of checking a single one of them. What follows instead is everything about this company you can check, including the parts that do us no favours.

Why this exists

Your material is already the hard part. The format it is stuck in is not.

Licence and certificate training runs on material that somebody wrote and then kept correct for years. A theory book. A folder of past papers. The corrections pencilled in after the rules moved in 2019 and again in 2023. That is the expensive part and it is already done. What it is stuck in is a PDF, a binder, and a filing cabinet, and your students read on a phone.

There are apps for reading on a phone. Every one of them carries somebody else’s course. That is the gap this came out of, and it is a narrow one: not “training needs software”, but “the one thing worth studying from is the one thing that is not in there”.

So this is a system that is empty until your material is in it. We have no syllabus of our own and no question bank of our own to sell you, and we are never going to write your course. It also means the conversion is done by people rather than by a machine pretending to be one. No language model is called from any code path in this product. The reading of your book, the matching of pages and the splitting into segments are machinery; deciding what your course says is not, and will not be.

What this page will not do is tell you a founding story with dates in it. There is a company here, it is very small, and the last section on this page says exactly which facts about it are still missing and why we would rather leave them missing than fill them in early.

We are not going to show you a customer we do not have, and we are not going to quote you a pass rate that one pilot could not support.

Before you choose anyone

Six questions to ask whoever converts your material

These separate a supplier who has done this from one who is merely confident about it. The list is worth more to you than it is to us, and we would rather you used it on us and walked away than never used it on somebody worse.
Fig. 14 — the checklist

Before you choose anyone

  1. 01Show me one converted chapter of my own material, before I pay anything.
  2. 02Point at the page every claim came from, and let me check three of them against my own copy.
  3. 03Show me my own exam questions in your system and prove they are word for word.
  4. 04Tell me what happens to my course on the day I stop paying you.
  5. 05Tell me who reads the output before I do, and what they check.
  6. 06Tell me what you will not do.

Six. Ask us all of them.

One page, in the order you would actually ask them. Print it and take it into the next conversation, whoever that is with.

Ask us all six. Then ask whoever else you are talking to, including the one with the customer list we do not have. Four of the six make a supplier show you something rather than tell you something, which is the only version of this conversation worth having.

We are not going to claim we come out of all six well today. Number one we can do this week: send a chapter and we convert it before you pay anything. Number five has an answer we will put in writing, which is that a person reads the output before you do. Numbers two and three are the reason this product exists at all, and their honest state is that no student has ever seen the result of either. Four and six are answered directly below.

If a supplier answers a question on that list with a case study instead of a demonstration, you have learned something. If we do it, the same applies.

Our answers

The two hard ones, answered rather than dodged

One of these is number four on the list above. The other never makes it onto a list, because it arrives on the phone about thirty seconds later.

If we disappear

It is the right question to ask a company younger than your newest instructor, and we would ask it too. Your material stays yours. It sits in your own space in the system, we never take ownership of it, and we ask who holds the rights before we convert a single page — if you do not hold them, we will tell you so and decline the work rather than take your money. If you stop paying us, you get your converted course back in a form you can keep and take somewhere else.

That last sentence is an undertaking we are making in writing, not a button in the software. There is no export route in the product today. There is a commitment to do it by hand and a person who would do it, and that is a weaker thing than a button, so we would rather say it plainly now than let you assume otherwise and find out on the day it matters.

What it costs

A first conversion is a few thousand euros, and what moves the number is mostly how big your book is. It is not a subscription. You will have the figure before we do any work, and the chapter you send to find out whether we are any good costs nothing at all.

There is no pricing table on this site and there is not going to be one until there is a price list that has survived contact with more than one provider. A grid of three tiers invented before the first job is a guess with lines drawn around it, and you would be able to tell.

What is missing

Six things that are not on this site, and why we left them off

A postal address, a registered name and a registration number are the cheapest credibility devices there are, and we know they are the first things you looked for. They are blank on purpose, in the same words the footer of every page uses.
A company name
Local Academy is a working name and not a registered mark. There is no operating company registered yet. On the day there is, its legal name appears in the footer of every page on this site, because that is where you would go looking for it.
A postal address
Your licensing authority prints one and so does your bank, which is exactly why you checked. A plausible-looking street on the site of a company whose entire argument is that you can check what it tells you would be the most expensive sentence we could write.
A registration and VAT number
Follows the company, and not a day before it. Your accountant will ask for both, and the right answer to give him today is that neither exists yet.
A telephone number
A number nobody answers is worse than no number at all. When there is a person whose job it is to answer it, it goes on the contact page.
An email address
Nothing in this product sends email — there is no mailing list and no automated anything — and we will not print an address until there is a mailbox somebody reads every working day. The form on the contact page writes into our own database, and a person reads the rows.
A named person, with a photograph
Missing, and it is the largest gap on this page. Nobody has yet put their name and their face against this in public. One real person is worth more than a page of values, and an invented one is worth less than nothing, so the space stays empty until it can be filled truthfully.

None of the six is hard to fake and every one of them would make this page read better. That is the reason they are the ones worth leaving blank: a reader who can catch us inventing an address has no reason to believe anything else here, and the rest of this site is asking you to check us rather than trust us.

The other half of “are you real” is whether anything is still being built. Every change since the first commit is dated and listed in the work log

Send one chapter.

Not a demo of somebody else’s course. A chapter of yours, converted properly, so you can look at your own questions and your own page numbers and decide whether it is any good. Pick the chapter you know best. If it is no good, you have lost an email.

We will ask who owns the copyright before we convert anything. If you do not hold the rights to the material, we will say so rather than take the work.
